Present and future housing issues

UK's population is expected to peak by around 2050. After peakin at approximately 65 million, it's predicted to then gradually decline.

The demographics of the country are also expected to change: The number of single person households will continue to grow, and the percentage of older people (65 and over) will rise to 23% by 2031.

    However.

    Population growth
    South Oxfordshire District (2001 population 128,307) shows the highest population growth rate in the county at 6.8%. Its population is expected to be:

  • over 133,000 by 2011
  • 140,000 by 2020.
  • This is the district in which the Wittenhams are located.
