Secondary School Visits
Oxfordshire's Secondary Schools take up the Waste Challenge!
Our new Wild Waste Show Outreach Officer, Gemma Smith, is here to work with your Secondary School to take action on waste.
Gemma delivers assemblies and curriculum-linked workshops for all ages, and supports school councils with their waste and recycling projects.
Have you ever carried outa Waste Audit in your school?
Gemma can help your school to look at a cross section of the school's average waste output (excluding canteen).
By dividing the rubbish into different materials, you can highlight how much waste the school produces and easily see how much can be recylced. A waste audit can be used when working towards eco-school status.

I can come to the school for class workshops and/or work closely with the school council to set up a recycling scheme and work towards Eco-schools Green Flag Award (www.eco-schools.org.uk). Eco-schools is a great way of structuring ideas to achieve results on a variety of topics such as ‘global perspective’, ‘healthy living’, ‘waste and recycling’. Working towards the Green Flag not only allows recognition of the good work the children put in but should ultimately save the school money and improve the surrounding environment.
