Wild Waste Show - Outreach Project

Has the Wild Waste Show Bus visited your school and left you wanting more?

Or maybe the Bus is booked up and you’d like a visit from someone to link into this term’s environment topic?

Book a free visit from our Outreach Officer who can run workshops around waste and recycling in your classroom.

Composting - natural cycles
Do you compost your fruit and vegetable waste in school? Are you having trouble producing good compost? Could you start composting? We can help your pupils to learn the ins and outs of the compost bin, and provide hands-on activities such as making mini-compost bins to find out more about the rotting process!

Pupils from Charlton Primary School visited their local composting site.

Lunchbox Challenge - beat the lunch time rubbish
Fed up of wasteful snack packs and throw-away wrappers? Keen to encourage packed lunches which are healthier for children and the environment? We can run workshops and assemblies to demonstrate how to produce a waste free lunch box, and help groups of children to run a whole-school competition, to see which class is best at reducing their lunch time waste.

Waste Audits - Where's it all coming from?
Find out how much rubbish your school produces. Sort, weigh and record the amount of waste, then take action! Plan how your school can reduce the amount thrown away, whether it’s in the classroom, office or staff room.

Recycling - sort it out!
We will assist groups in running recycling projects, and support Oxfordshire County Council's Schools Recycling Scheme.

The Eco Schools Programme
This is a programme recognised throughout Europe, which aims to 'make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of the school - both for pupils and staff'.

Through our Outreach Project, the Wild Waste Show can offer support and advice to schools wishing to register with this exciting programme, which leads to gaining a bronze, silver or Green Flag award.
