School Visit
"helping you make every experience count"
We invite you to spend a day with us. We will take you on a journey where children can explore the countryside, discover the variety of plants and animals, and understand why we need to care for our environment.
Our staff will plan and prepare your day within the framework of the National Curriculum especially suited to meet the needs of your children.
Visits for school groups are £3.50 per child.
To book a school visit please contact Jane Millin, the Education Centre Manager, on direct line 01865 409405
The Nature Reserve is an ideal place to capture children's excitement and develop their natural investigative skills.
Within a well structured day we encourage each child to reach their full potential and give them new experiences out of doors.
We link your topic to the countryside around us. For example:
- Homes and Habitats - Exploring the Reserve gives children first hand experiences finding animal homes and comparing different habitats. You can hunt for minibeasts or pond dip or use your senses to explore the countryside.
- Survival - We provide challenging situations for young people, giving them the chance to work together, make choices and take decisions. All the essential skills can be developed during the day.
Settlements and Village comparisons -You can look at human influences on the landscape and farming. - Back in time - You can be Iron Age Dwellers or Nature Detectives..
A high staffing ratio gives each child the chance to gain as much possible from the visit.
Inservice training courses are designed to meet the needs of your school.
Our aim is to foster a love and sense of responsibility towards the countryside and to help conserve the plants and animals that share our world.
Whatever you chose, we hope you and your group will take away something special you have learnt, experienced or shared.
