Homes and Habitats
Every visit is tailored to suit the requirements of the schools. Challenging and imaginative follow up work is designed to ensure that the knowledge gained can be applied in a different setting.
In the example shown here, children spent the morning looking at habitats on the nature reserve, and were then encouraged to create their own collages of habitats seen and animals.
The children were asked to think about:
- where does the animal live?
- what does it need to survive?
- how is it adapted to its habitat?
"Did you know that if a dolphin had a propellor instead of a tail it coulds swim faster." (Farah - Dunmore Junior School).
"Elvis the monkey has glasses to make him look good and so the steam doesn't get in his eyes nor does the sun." (Mikee and Adam - Dunmore Junior School.)
