Northmoor Trust will be hosting the award winning play ‘Another Kind of Silence’, the story of legendary environmentalist Rachel Carson, on 18th September.
Rachel Carson’s life was dedicated to alerting the world to the link between pesticides and their damage to the environment, wildlife and human life.
The Trust’s estate, which covers Little Wittenham Nature Reserve and a conservation farm managed to strict environmental standards, is the perfect setting for this inspirational play with a strong environmental message.
Written and performed by Liz Rothschild this spell bounding performance gives a compelling account of an inspirational life with a message that is still relevant today in a time when the problem of pesticides still continues.
An important part of solutions to environmental problems is to appreciate the impact that individuals on a local scale can have. This is at the heart of the Northmoor Trust’s philosophy and the key message of the Trust’s visitor centre Project Timescape.
Charlotte Clarke, Hill Farm Centre Manager, is looking forward to the performance: “Rachel Carson was an incredible pioneering ecologist and this play beautifully reveals stories that she never told in her life.” The performance is incredibly inspiring and I feel privileged that we have been able to book this performance to launch our Planet Earth season of events”.
