Gateway For All - 2009 Project on the Northmoor Trust Estate
Creating wildlife-rich, accessible spaces through community design and delivery
A new Northmoor Trust initiative is underway to inspire practical ideas for protecting the environments that support our daily lives.
The Gateway for All project will work with local communities in the design and creation of new wildlife and community spaces. These spaces will be based at the Trust’s estate, alongside Project Timescape.
The project aim is to create three new resource areas and to share with others lessons learnt from this collaborative design process.
They will include a fully:
- an accessible wetland area with boardwalk for hands-on learning and recreation
- a courtyard garden of edible and medicinal plants where people can learn and replicate ideas
- a sensory garden to explore the senses through hands-on gardening and play.
The Trust has been developing the concept with local community groups and schools. Fundraising for the project is currently underway, and once this is secured, we hope to be able to bring news of the projects developments over the coming months.
