Leaf Innovation Centres

The Northmoor Trust's Sustainable Farming Initiative at Little Wittenham in S. Oxfordshire has become one of thirteen LEAF (Linking the Environment and Farming) Innovation Centres. Launched on 18 March by Sir Donald Curry, Chairman of the Policy Commission on the Future of Farming and Food, the new innovation centres aim to help farmers tap into the very best of British innovation and research to improve efficiency whilst protecting and enhancing the environment.

Launch of the first 13 LEAF innovation centresJohn Sargent and Dr Katy James of the Trust's initiative said, 'we are delighted to be involved in this new scheme as there is a real need to improve dialogue between those involved in innovation and research and farmers and the rest of the rural community. Work on the Trust's farmland since 1997 has clearly shown that there are real environmental and economic benefits associated with an integrated whole farm approach. We believe our experience and findings will help farmers make decisions for the future at a time when farming faces many challenges'.
